What Happens in a Session?

Before Your First Session
When you get to the psychologist's office, you will fill out some paperwork:
- Consenting form
- Psychologist-Patient services agreement
- Medical history, including your current medications (if you have any)
Your First Session
During the first session, you may be asked:
- What are your problems?
- What brought you here?
- What do you feel is wrong in your life?/ What do you want to accomplish?
Some questions might be about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships, your current living situation, and your career.
Your first session is often about you and your psychologist getting to know eachother, determining if current service is a good fit for your needs.
Final session
Depending on your issue and goals, consulting can last a few sessions or several weeks or years.
Final therapy session can look many different ways. It often include reviewing your treatment and the progress you have made over time, as well as how you will use the skills and insight you learned going forward.
